Holiday Gift Giving with a Twist!

It’s officially gift giving season!

On this Thrive For[e]ward episode we are pulling back the wrapping paper to see what is in YOUR gift box this 2021. But before we talk about your gift list and all the individuals you are going to spend time, money, and energy on this holiday season, I want you to think about how you are giving to yourself.

GIFT TO YOURSELF …

YES, I said how are you giving to yourself?  What do you do to reward yourself when you have achieved a goal or provide yourself some “self-care” during this time? How will you make yourself a priority to do this going forward?

When I think about how I reward myself, I try to give myself something that has an emotional connection. I might decide to sit by the fire, enjoy something sweet (like macaroons) and just have quiet time. This is my connection and gift to myself. I might take a warm bath. Whatever it is, I have made the commitment to make myself a priority, so I am able to give and be there for everyone around me 100%.

GIFT TO YOUR LOVED ONES …

When I give and gift to others, I want them to receive something with lasting joy.

I don’t want their feeling of receiving the gift to be just a moment in time, I want that everlasting joy to be their experience.

According to the article 25 Self-Care Gift Ideas, Because We All Deserve To Unwind,  gifts that promote self-care are especially meaningful, because they provide the opportunity for the recipient to treat themselves with kindness and love. “You’ll know that by using the gift, they’re actively treating themselves with the love they deserve,” says Jacqui Kingswell, co-founder of The Pilates Class “This not only sets them up for a healthy year ahead, but encourages them to take time for themselves after a busy year.”

Other ideas in additional to self-care gifts are gifts that are sentimental and meaningful to the recipient. The more personal you can make the gift the more the receiver will feel that warmth and joy you are intending for them.

GIFT TO YOUR TEAM AND CLIENTS …

One category that gets lost a bit and not promoted enough during the holidays is how you can give to your team, co-workers, and clients.

For me, my team is how I have been able to create and execute my vision. As leaders we need to recognize that our teams work hard for us, especially during these last couple years with their challenges of balancing so many things happening in their lives. Gifts can be a financial bonus, a day off or even just showing them a level of appreciation. An experience is fun too and can be team building. Regardless, it’s important to know your team and think about what they might like or appreciate.

My clients are my everything. They trust me, they believe in the work we are doing, and I am forever grateful for them. They have become trusted friends and I always want to give back in a way that shows them how grateful I am for them. I make sure during the holidays and beyond they know that. I take the time to reach out with personalized gifts that also align with the mission of my company.
